HERBAL TEA FROM FIG LEAVES

Optimizing all that we find in our tiny garden is a must.
The only one fig plant in our garden is producing fresh leaves, but it will withered and fallen soon during our hot weather.
I have ever read about the benefit of fig leaf.
These leaves are commonly used to treat diabetes and also cholesterol.
The dried leaves are processed as herbal tea to maintain body health.
So, I try to make herbal tea from fig leaves.
I picked some fresh leaves, washed, then let the white sap dried on the open air, not sun drying, only air drying for about 2-3 hours during the hot day.
I put it on the porch.

Then I cut the leaves in to small size, then it dried again.
We can also put it on the oven for about 5 minutes.
Than store it on the airtight container.
So, we will get healthy tea from our own garden.

PICKING RIPEN VARIEGATED PEPPERS

Do you still remember our variegated pepper?
You can see this beautiful pepper several weeks ago here.

Now the peppers have already red and ripen.

I picked three red peppers from this plant.

One of the pepper have 'opened', so we could see the cluster of seeds inside.
I can wait to sow the seeds.

Will the new plants still on variegated version?
Lets we check it up...

HARVESTING KECIPIR FOR SEED

These are the ripe mature kecipir or winged bean that picked by my niece several weeks ago.
Now, the beans have already dried naturally.
They are ready to be saved as seed.

As usual we always save seeds from so many plant that we grow in our own garden.
New plants that came from the our own seeds usually more adaptable to our garden.

Some of the seeds actually have eaten by seed miner.
Another seeds have cracked.

Whatever we still have some healthy seeds to be grown next season.

NEW COMER : KARA PEDANG MERAH

This is a new comer of bean in our garden.
Kara pedang merah or red sword bean (Canavalia gladiata).

It grew so slowly at the first, so poor.
But after I added more compost, it grows so lush.

I surprised when the pinkish flower and long flat bean were emerging.
This is the climbing variety.

So interesting...

The pinkish flower is so beautiful!

As long as I know, the young tender pod is great to be stir fried and cooked as soup.

Not all of the flower changes into fresh pod.
I don't know why....

PEELING THE 'KARA BENGUK' SHELL...

Several days ago, when I was tidying up our kitchen, I found a  little pail of dried kara benguk.
I think it comes from last year harvest.

The bean still in the tough shell.

A neglected harvest.

Then I peeled the shell, and got a big bowl of seeds.

FINDING INTERESTING PEPPER... AGAIN!

Several weeks ago I found a cute tubby pepper on the corner of our terrace garden.
I think it's a common local pepper at the first, but when the fruits have already emerged.
Cute peppers are showing.

Now we can find colorful peppers on the healthy plant stand on the short wall.
What a shame several days ago, there was an accident, this pot fallen down on to the garage roof.
I think there was a unknown visitor hit this pot.

I'm lucky that the plant only slightly damaged.
Only some litlte branches were broken.
But I lost it name tag, cause the soil have spilled onto the roof of our garage.

I have been searching the name tag, but haven't find it yet.
I hope I can find it soon, so I will know the ID soon...

Now... lets enjoy the beauty of our ornamental pepper.
