FRUITY FRIDAY : MANGGIS

Several days ago, my friend brought us a bag that full of  'manggis'.
We ate these fruits together.


Manggis or purple mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is a popular tropical fruit.
The fruit is ready almost all year round. 
But the peak of the harvesting season is during the rainy season.


I really love the white, sweet and tasty flesh.
The flesh is high on vitamin C, mineral, and folic acid.


The juicy thick skin like as a coconut shell is a popular as medicinal stuff.
It contains high antioxidant.
Here, we often make juice from these fruit shells.
Some time, the shell will be dried as herbal tea.
