PACING VARIGATA - VARIEGATED COSTUS

When I was trimming my Chlerodendron bush, I found a 'hidden beauty'.
My variegated Costus was blooming.



This plant love shady or part shady area.


Pacing (Costus specious) is a perennial plant.
This plant is a member of family Zingiberaceae.


The flower is only one day blossom.


Look the beautiful leaves...



This plant have simple branching, but mostly have single stems.


The shrub is two meters high.


A flower bud, a day before blossom.


A herbaceous stem, with the flower cluster in the end.



We can find the wild varieties on the riverside, especially cliff area.


This plant is also well known as a traditional medicine.
This plant has so many purpose for threat kidney infection, edema, chirosis and others.

    1. Yes, I love it. I took the old and poor plant on the road side about a year ago. Now it's become a beautiful plant

    1. When I found this plant on the ruins near the road side, the condition was really poor. Dry and rotten on so many parts. Now, we can see the beauty

  3. I think I have seen those leaves but never the flower, someone probably had that plant here but it wouldn't bloom.

    1. Maybe this plant is grown in your climate on spring - summer, and will be have dormantion during winter. But in tropics this is an evergreen perennial
