PUMPKIN : READY TO BE PICKED?

This is the current condition of my pumpkin vine.
Most of the leaves are yellowing and dry.

This is the 'Rocky'.
The plastic bag still wrapped.

I still find two fruits on the vine.

Look the skin...

This is my first planting.
I'm not sure about the degree of fruit maturity

I'm not sure to pick the fruits.
Can you give me some advices?

  1. Can you remember when you planted them? They look like they have put on a lot of growth since you covered them with the plastic.

  2. Do you have a seed packet with a picture of what the mature plant should look like?

    1. On the packet, the fruits look deep green skin. But I'm not sure those are ripe fruits. I've been googling about this variety, but I can find the information that I want. The fruit is ready to be harvested since 70 days after planting

    2. Usually packets do show the end product.

  4. U you already ripen pumpkins?
I've never seen such a variety.

  5. It looks really cool with all the wrinkles :)
Try knocking on the pumpkins skin. If you get a hollow sound and the petiole is starting to dry then it's ready for harvest.

  6. Looks ripe to me! I have seen these in the supermarket. If the plant itself is losing leaves and the stem is drying, it should be ripe. Enjoy! Linda@Wetcreek Blog
