WHITE DOVE ORCHID : FIRST!

Last Monday, February 24, my White Dove Orchids were blooming.
That was the first blossom in this year.

The extreme weather during the early of February stimulated the blossom.
In the nature, this orchid only blooms after we have extreme weather for several days.

This orchid only blooms in a day.
White dove orchids in every  place on the same weather will bloom synchronously on the same day.
And we have a very nice fragrance on that day.

Last year, my white dove orchids were blooming four times.

From five clumps, only a clump that had lots of flowers.
The clump in front of my kitchen gave me a great appearance.
The other clumps only showed 2 - 3 flowers in a clump.

This is a good beginning.
I hope the clump will bloom more often and more flowers.

Starting the week with a new fragrance...

    1. I have noticed my orchids for several years, and I also read so many literatures that mention about the extreme weather in the day and night will stimulate flower buds production. I have ever tried to give fertilizer and and good maintenance, but it didn't do. White dove is a species orchid. Fertilizing is only responsive on hybrid orchids, but weather is more responsive on species orchid

  3. It is a nicely shaped bloom, just like a dove taking flight.

    1. We have to be patient to see this orchids blossom. They will bear their flowers if only they have favorable weather and microclimate. It's not easy to manage their flowering period. Have a beautiful day

  5. A delicate beautiful plant, I wonder what fragrance this orchid has. The orchids they grow in the glasshouses here hardly have any fragrance.

    1. I think the fragrance is a mix both of jasmine and mint, so fresh. Here, the orchids usually don't have fragrance, but they have beautiful shape and pattern

    1. Thanks Joanne. They are really lovely. If you come here on the blossom days, you can find this flowers and the fragant everywhere. We still find this orchid live naturally on the old trees trunks. Hmmm ... a white and fragrant day.

    1. Yes Magali. Although we can find this orchid live naturally on the woods or roadside, but we will have more pleasure if we have they live naturally in our home garden. Look... they stay on my brick wall with the moss and ferns.

    1. Actually my every parts of my garden are not free from plant pest and diseases. My garden has so many visitors; especially birds and lovely butterflies. I have noticed the birds that visiting my little garden usually eat grasshoppers or caterpillar on my plants. It's really help me to control the bugs attack. I also practice crop rotation and companion cropping. For example I put my tomatoes pots side by side with sweet basil pots. The tomatoes bugs is annoyed by basil aroma. Marigold and Brassica will give better result if they are planted side by side. The aroma of so many plants are good to control bugs in our gardens. For the last, I use home made organic pesticide to control the pests.
