SELASIH UNGU - THAI BASIL

This is one of my herb collection.
Here, we call it as 'selasih ungu'.
The taste is too strong for us.
We more like the mild taste.
So, it just the minor herb here,
Although, we just use it for a small amount to reduce bad smell of fish on some dishes.

As an annual, the life time period is only 3-4 months.
The flower is so beautiful too.

Their growth is so fast, so bountiful, more than what we need.
But the strong smell is a very good as bugs repellent, especially fruit fly and little green caterpillar.

So, I grow it among the vegetable bed and on my vegetables pots.
As organic repellent, it must be more safe for our environment.
The other plants look grow so healthy.

    1. Saya kira, setelah berbunga dan mengering. Nanti akan tumbuh banyak tanaman baru dari biji yang terjatuh.

  4. I grow this in the summer months as well, though it tends to be a bit more susceptible to pests and diseases than the other basils I grow.
