NOT FROM MY GARDEN : KEMBANG GANDUL - PAPAYA FLOWERS

Last Sunday walks, me and my husband went to traditional market.
Sight seeing and bought any food to be stored on the fridge.
Something interesting when we go to traditional market.
We often find so many extraordinary or old fashion things there.
Especially, something that I couldn't find on my home garden.

Last Sunday, I saw papaya flowers that sold on a stall.
Just two bundles remain.
I immediately bought it.
That was a rare vegetable.

Here, we call it as 'Kembang Gandul, Kembang Kates or Bunga Papaya'.
The flower is taken from male plant, so the flower will never form fruit let.
The papaya flowers with their flower stalks are tied using bamboo rope.

There are so many dishes from these flowers.
But papaya flowers stir fry is the most popular here.
Next I will share you about the dishes.

Sorry, poor quality of pictures, I just use phone camera.
I haven't get the new camera yet.
Have a great week...

  2. We have farmers markets here which sell some things which you wouldn't ordinarily find in a supermarket. It's nice to have something different to cook with for a change.
