POOR BROCCOLI

Again ... from my backyard...
But this is not a good news.

A week is a great time for my vines in my backyard, but not for my broccoli patch.
When I was starting my vacation, this patch looked so lush.
But when I went home, they looked so poor.

I think the leaves were so sweet and juicy, so the caterpillars loved it so much.
Oh...please...

From ten plants, only two plants that still looked healthy.
Oh... no... a little disaster...

Actually, I have had a big expectation on this patch.
Cause they looked so thrives at the first, until the caterpillars were killing my dream.
This was the best broccoli patch that I have ever had, but all was over.
I should starting new step...
It's so hard on growing Brassicas...

  1. I always make sure that I put netting over my brassicas as the caterpillars love it so much. I hope the two plants you have left go on to give you a harvest.

  2. I have trouble growing it out in the garden even though I can grow nice cabbage right next to it. I think that it has to be cooler than it is here for it to grow properly. Of course bugs don't help matters and they love broccoli.

    1. I think cabbage less delicious than my broccoli and kale. My cabbage patch looks so lush, but it's not on my broccoli and kale patch. Maybe cabbage is the ladt choice... lol

  3. I have had caterpillar problems on broccoli as well. I didn't grow it this year for that very reason.

    1. Ya, I understand your reason. Sometime, I think I should 'pause' to grow broccoli on my garden for several time.

    I'm glad you remembered me.

I know your problem. Caterpillars love broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage ...
I have ecological garden. I do not use chemicals because I stopped to plant broccoli and cauliflower.
I'm so sorry that I can not help you.
    Greetings.

  5. I stopped growing broccoli when my plants never bloomed. Guess it was too hot here. Better luck with your other veggies. Linda@Wetcreek Blog

  7. They haven't left you much have they? Like Jo we have to net as what the pigeons don't eat the caterpillars do. Unfortunately netting doesn't keep the slugs out

    1. Yes, they have. Here, netting is unusual technique on keeping brassicas from caterpillar.

  8. Oh, I know the feeling of disappointment. My tomatoes were doing great this year and just before they turned red, they got a sickness that made them all brown!
