EDAMAME : HARVESTING TIME

This is the first harvest of my Edamame plot.
I only harvest the plot partially.
I left some 'well performance' plants as a mother plant to get seed for the next planting.

I only sowed 30 Edamame seeds, but I only have 15 plants remain.
Some seed didn't germinate, and some little plant have drought and later dead.

I got a bowl of Edamame, I try to make a healthy snack  'boiled Edamame'.
It should be so tasty.

A real tasty snack with a crunchy texture and sweet taste.
I should plant it again on the next season.
Hoping get more healthy snack from our own home garden.

    1. Steamed/boiled edamame is delicious, the raw seed is delicious too. Yang dimasak enak, yang mentah juga sedap. Salam hangat!

  2. That's a nice looking harvest. My husband and I love edamame for snacks, it's so healthy too. I'm not sure if we can grow this in Idaho. I would plant it if it's possible. Have a great day! :)

    1. Thanks CJ. Yes I think they can grow well on your climate during the summer. We can pick them since 60 days after sowing, even earlier, it's depend on the variety.

    1. Thank you Sarah. Here, edamame is well known as 'Japanese soybean'. It's a minor crop here, and It's usually planted in the middle or high land. I think you can grow there.

    1. We only eat the seeds inside the pod. The pods shell is so hard.

  10. I can almost taste them! I have only had them at our local Japanese restaurant, but they are so tasty I should have them more often. I see that they are now available in the frozen food section of the supermarket, but probably the fresh are so much better!
