TERRACE GARDEN UPDATE : SEPTEMBER 2014

This dry season, my terrace garden looks so bare.
Very dry weather with a strong wind almost happened everyday.
The hot temperature in the morning until afternoon, but so cold in the night.
So many bugs spread quickly, and made so many damages.
Just a few time on gardening this month, cause I have a lot of work to be done.
This is my terrace garden this morning...

Northern side :

Cabbages, tomato 'Kaliurang', white radish (lobak), long peppers, pakcoy, amaranths, eggplants, cauliflowers, sweet basil, celery and flowery mustard.

Green and striped amaranths as volunteer on eggplant's pot.

Lobak (white radish/daikon), the survivor...

Sawi bunga (flowery mustard), I can't wait to see and cook the flowers...

Cabbage 'Grand 22' saved from caterpillar attack...

Row of cauliflower, ready to be harvested...

Eastern side :

Brussel sprout, dill, fennel, green pakcoy, chrysanthemum, thai basil, sweet basil, impatient, Filius Blue pepper and Coleus, all on the plant holder.

Green Pakcoy on a little pot...

Red chrysanthemum adds more color...

Dill, love the smell and the spiny leaves...

Tapak dara / Periwinkle, love the color...

Western side :

Broccoli, celery, garlic chives, basil Genovese, red lettuce, and amaranths (red, green and striped)

Southern side :

Cabbage 'Ruby Perfection', Kale di Toscana, carrot, red amaranths, endive, chard Bright Light, Mustard, Lettuce, tomato and coleus.

Lettuce, a day after transplanting and coleus row from cutting.

Chard, the only one pot remain...

  1. You have such a variety of plants and they look good even though attacked by bugs. A lot of my long white radishes are bolting to bloom, I didn't know that mustard blooms were good to eat.

    1. Mustard blooms are edible. We can find them sold on traditional market tied on a bunch. The taste is good. We use to stew it or stir fried

    1. Thank you, Paula. Yeah, this dry season I get an extreme bug's attack. Green caterpillar have made so many damage on my vines. They chewed all the leaves and fruits, then only left me the stems.
