HARVESTING FRESH KECIPIR AKA WINGED BEAN

Something that so interesting in our eastern backyard.
When I was looking at the top of our east wall, I looked something different on the lush vine at the corner of this part.

Some unique bean were hanging on this vine.
Yeay... our 'kecipir' vine finally produce its fresh beans. 

Kecipir (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) or winged bean is a perennial bean that grow mostly on the home garden on the village.
I sowed the seed about a year ago.
Actually I often grow this kind of bean but they didn't produce bean, only a very lush leaves that we could find.
But now we can harvest the beans.

Lots of the flowers too...
Sorry the vine is too high, so I can't take any pictures of its flowers.

The vine is growing here and there.
I have to use a stair to pick the bean.

Our red okra patch is doing so well.

All looks so lush...

So healthy...

We are not finding bug here.

So lovely...

I should look for any recipe that made of okra.

Cause we will have lots of okra next.

A PROMISING SIGN ON RED CABBAGE PATCH

Finally... we can see a nice patch of red cabbage.

Look... a row of red cabbages on our terrace garden...

It's not a perfect patch, but it's giving a promising sign.

This is Scarlet, a new variety for us.

I have ever grown Ruby Perfection and Red Globe before.
But those varieties couldn't grow well here.

Love to see the healthy plants.

VISITOR ON A BEAUTIFUL FLOWER

There's a visitor on the okra flower...

EDIBLE WEED ON THE MUSTARD PATCH...

It's the new patch on the drying area, next to the terrace garden.

Actually the main crop is mustard green.
But we can find lots of little plants here.
All the 'weeds' is self sown seedling.

These are chili pepper seedlings.
Need to be transplanted soon.

Very healthy Krokot or purslane (Portulaca oleraceae).

Healthy amaranths both of green and red.

The Physalis or tomatillo needs to be transplanted too.
And other edible weeds, ready to be harvested and cooked.
So the main crop will grow better.

SHORT COURSE ON CONTROLLING PEST AND DISEASE

A very tiring week has over.
Last week, I accompanied farmers in short course on controlling pest and disease.
The first day I accompanied lada or white pepper growers, a very popular spice here.
We learned about how to control pest and disease safely, using natural products
We use beneficial fungi Trichoderma to control Phytoptora and Phytium, the main problem on growing white pepper.
What a shame, my android were low batteries, so I couldn't take any pictures.

The second day we visited another place, a coffee plantation.

Very lush plants... with bountiful fruits.

There's a shed in the little plantation.
The grower use to put fertilizer here.

We accompanied coffee growers on learning pest and disease control.

We had a great time with the expert.

Long discussion, sharing each other.
So interesting...

A very interesting moment and great lesson for me.
The grower also made observation.
Checking and observing the pest and disease on the plants.

Determining the sample plants to be observed.

Counting the healthy and infection fruits each branch.

Learning about using beneficial fungi Beuveria bassiana to control main disease on growing coffee. 
And the growers finally made a trial on applying these fungi to protect the coffee plants...

The growers made a solution from the fungi to be sprayed on the sample plant...

We still have two observations later.

Can't wait to see result of the observation and the fresh red fruits.
