KACANG PANJANG MERAH - RED LONG YARD BEAN (II)

Long yard bean grows so fast, especially during the rainy season.
Look... only needs three days until the bean is ready to be harvested.

I leave first bean to be used as seeds for next planting.

They are so long, more than 50 cm.

And the color is awesome.

Look... the full blooming flower is so beautiful...

Thanks GOD...

BACKYARD, MAKING OVER THE NORTHERN SIDE

I've posted about a small piece of my northern side backyard with the existing unused stove on it.
You can see the late condition here.

I make a new raised bed a the corner in order to optimize the space.
We can find a compost bin here that full of organic material.
I grow some greenery there, such as kangkung, green mustard, long yard bean and green onion.
I put a vertical rack in front of the stove.
That rack is full of herbs.
There are thai-basil, basil, rosemary, celery, mint, garlic chives and a pot of ornamental pepper on the top of he rack.

I also put additional patch for long yard bean with A stake to climb these bean vines.
This space is actually an eaves area, so this space is only used during the dry season with no rain falls.
Under the A stake, I still have space to put my new irises.

I hope this new look is much better, and these patch will do well.
Sorry the pictures are not so clear, cause I took these pictures in the afternoon.
For all of my friend, happy gardening...

KACANG PANJANG : NEW SEASON

My long yard bean patch looks ready for its harvesting season.
Some little young beans have formed.

The fresh raw young bean is so sweet and crunchy.
Sometime we eat it raw as 'lalap' with 'sambal' (ground hot chilli sauce).
The older one is great for stir fried or cooked as salad.

Last season, the bugs infested intensively and i really overwhelmed.
So, I unloaded the patch earlier to prevent the infestation spread into other patches.

I find over ripened bean, look so pale and yellowish.
I think I should save it for the next planting season.
Keep the bean on the seed box after dried.
So much hope this patch will have long productive period as normal.
Readers, for all of you, happy gardening...

KACANG PANJANG : EXPLORING THE FLOWER

One of my  bean collection is 'kacang panjang' or long yard bean.
Javanese call it as kacang dawa or kacang usus.
Long yard bean (Vigna unguiculata) is a popular vegetable in my country.
We can find it both of in groceries or traditional market.
The price is fairly cheap.

Now, I want to explore its beautiful flower.

The color is so vary depend on the variety.
But the shape is the same.

It just a one day blooming flower.
Blooming in the morning, and will be withered in the late of afternoon.

Please enjoy the simple beauty from my little garden.
happy gardening for you all...

VINES PARTY

I think a week  is just a short time, but it's a very long time for my back yard.
Yeah... I left my home and garden for about a week, but I was not full left them.
We went home about three times, although just for a moment to did  laundry or just cleaned our house and of course watering our garden.

But my back yard that full of vines was lost from our attention.
We almost have never noticed this plot during our last holiday.

Now... so many vines are growing so thrive.
Pumpkin, bitter gourd, luffa, pole bean, kara bean, chayote, long yard bean, kacang tolo (a varian of long yard bean), and also passion fruit... all look like a dense bush.

They are climbing here and there, trying to reach supports to stand on.
On the clothes line, wall, old twigs, ground, roof or path way... everything...

I'm finding some little luffas on the clothes line.
And also a little bitter gourd under the roof.
Some bitter gourd buds hanging on the clothes line.
Such a very nice weather for their growths.

I have to tidy up this patch soon.
Some vines are showing me their flowers, so to make them growing better and giving me great harvest, I have to make more space to optimizing  their growth.
Pruning, trimming and directing their shoot's growth...

Hope I have time and favorable weather to do outdoor activity.
Or... there will be a new little jungle here...
