FRUITY FRIDAY : FIG FOR BREAKFAST

Rush hour...

Lots of daily activities that I should do in every morning.
This morning I had no time for breakfast.
Only take a meal for lunch.

When I was passing next to the fig tree, I found a ripe fruit there.
Then I picked it, and brought it into the office.

So, I enjoy the fresh sweet figs just when I arrived.

A simple breakfast...

FIG : GRAFTING...

Our fig is growing so high, and showing us it fruits.
It makes our friends so jealous.

They really want to grow fig.
As we know, fig plant is fairly expensive here.

The simple way to multiply this plant is grafted.
Actually some gardeners use cutting method, but it has too much risks.

So I try to do grafting on my only one fig plant.

I hope I will be success, and I will have more fig plant, to be planted in our tiny garden and also to be shared with our friends.

HERBAL TEA FROM FIG LEAVES

Optimizing all that we find in our tiny garden is a must.
The only one fig plant in our garden is producing fresh leaves, but it will withered and fallen soon during our hot weather.
I have ever read about the benefit of fig leaf.
These leaves are commonly used to treat diabetes and also cholesterol.
The dried leaves are processed as herbal tea to maintain body health.
So, I try to make herbal tea from fig leaves.
I picked some fresh leaves, washed, then let the white sap dried on the open air, not sun drying, only air drying for about 2-3 hours during the hot day.
I put it on the porch.

Then I cut the leaves in to small size, then it dried again.
We can also put it on the oven for about 5 minutes.
Than store it on the airtight container.
So, we will get healthy tea from our own garden.

REPOTTING THE FIG

Sometimes the neglected  plant grows so well and wildy, but sometimes looks so poor.
Yeah... it happens on my fig.
I think the pot have already too small...

Look... the root have full filled the 'little pot'.

I have to move this fig into bigger pot soon and add more compost.
I hope this plant will grow better on the bigger space.

MY LITTLE FIG TREE THIS WEEK

This little fig tree that I got from my old friend is growing so healthy.

You can see the little tree when it just arrived in my garden here.

The leaves are so green and lush.
The height is more than a meter.

Actually, I have to learn a lot of things about growing fig.
As a new plant for me, lots of things that I haven't understand yet.

How to take care this plant... it's so challenging.
I have no idea, when the fruit will appear.
I'm finding some buds, but I don't know, will they grow into  fruits or just become shoots.

I hope I can find the fruit soon.
Learn... learn... and learn.
