SAWO : MOVING

Such an embarrassing post to share about our messy garden.
I'm a real lazy gardener.
The north side of our backyard looks so messy.

The sun is not in the north side anymore.
The sun have moved into the middle of the equator.
Some of our fruit trees have had limited sun shine for their growth.
One of our fruity tree in the pot is Sawo (Manilkara zapota).

The shoots look so fresh, but no sign of flower neither fruit.
Southern area should be warmer and brighter.
Next to the garden door.

Then I moved it into southern area, that get more sun shine.

Hoping this little tree grow better here, then produce healthy fruits.

SAWO : GROWS SLOWLY

This is my Sawo tree today.
It's seem grow so slow.
Yeah, this little tree was covered by chayote and also velvet bean vines before.
Then I moved it into a new place.
I put it above the compost bin, here it get better space and also sunshine.

The fruits are still small.
We can see the little fruits here.
Actually the fruits are still little.
I should add more compost into this pot, it needs more food to grow up.
I don't know when it will grow bigger and ripe.

There are four fruits remain on this little tree.
Hoping they will safe and ripe.

FRUITY FRIDAY : LITTLE SAWO

What a surprise...
After this plant have been neglected for several months, it give me a lovely sight.
Some little fruits on my little sawo plant are popping up from the end of the branches.

I have had so hopeless after three flowering season, this plant had never left me any fruits, all flowers have fallen down on to the ground.
You can see the last flowering season here.

Actually this plant ideally can produce both of flower and fruit all year round.
But on the mature plant, it must be a peak fruiting season.
This should be the third fruiting season of this plant since I've been growing it on my own garden a couple of years ago.
The didn't care about the third flowering season, that give me some little fruits.
So, I don't remember when it was happened.
I don't know how many time I have forgot to watering this plant, I don't know how many time it got drought.
it might be the drought have stimulated flowering and then fruiting.
But look... the neglected plant is showing me a new hope.
I like it!

I have already noticed, I'm finding five little fruits.
Yeah... just a few amount of fruit, but nothing.
I can't wait to see them grow, become bigger and the ripen.

I wish the taste will so great as common sawo.
I hope no bugs and I can pick the sweet ripen fruits from this plant.
Reader, what is the special fruit from your own garden this week.

SAWO : FLOWER BUDS ARE COMING...

My little fruit trees were neglected of my attention.
I planted some little fruit trees on pots, cause no space anymore for big trees.
This is Sawo (Manilkarla zapota).

Actually this plant's growth was stagnated for few months, hopeless...
Then I added some compost and fertilizer.
I let this plant is exposed to the rain and sun.

Now... you can see how thrive this little plant.
The shoots are so fresh.

And.... I'm finding some flower buds each shoot.
I dream that all flower buds will blooming and turn in to little fruits.
Hmmm... I will pick my own  yummy fruits.
I hope it become a reality.

Wow ... I'm finding a little fruit.

Hope it will become my first sawo fruit this year.
I wish....

FRUITY FRIDAY : SAWO MANILA

Last week I got a special gift from my friend, a plastic bag of Sawo.
Look the little tree on my friends garden.

There are a plentiful fruits hanging on the tree.
So lovely...

The mature fruits...
The fruit is usually picked when the fruit have mature enough, but the flesh is still hard and tough.

The fruit clusters are appearing on the end of the branches.

I have already shared you about the fresh fruit after it have already picked.
Now, I'm sharing you about the fruit inside.

Yesterday morning, I checked my rice box, and I found some Sawo fruits have already ripen.
The fruits were a little bit tender.

Then I cut it, and I saw its juicy flesh.
I tasted it, emmmhhh.... very very sweet and the smell is very good.

We can find 1-4 seeds inside, between the flesh.
The seed is black and almost flat.
We (Javanese) call the seed as 'Kecik'.

When I was a little girl, I used to play a traditional game for girls, the game is called 'Dakon' or 'Congklak'.
We use a wooden board with holes on it and some Sawo seeds
In that  game, we also hone our skill on numeracy.
That's a pair game.
I love that game!

So... I collect the seeds for my daughter.
And I hope she could play that game, an old fashion game, a traditional game.
This fruit is sweet and tasty, and also remind me in to my childhood.
A lovely fruit...
Thanks friend for this lovely fruit...
