NEW INVANDER...

There is a new invader in our home garden.

Yeah... This is Labu siam or chayote (Sechium edule).

We grow it next to our kitchen.

The vine is growing here and there.

Reaching the roof...

Climbing into the roof garden

and creeping on the wall.

and also get in to the kitchen.

It must be tidied up soon.

There are signs that we will get some fruits soon.

The last ... we got a bunch of young leaves and tender shoots as fresh vegetables

Thanks GOD...

HANGING CHAYOTES IN OUR FRONT YARD

This vine is really lovely.
Yes, this is our Labu or chayote's vine.

Growing so healthy, so rapidly...
The fruits are hanging on the vine here and there.
Absolutely lovely...
Never stop fruiting, we always find fruits hanging on the vine.

The shoots are climbing here and there.
So invasive...
Invaded our porch...
Covering the Plumeria, Mussaenda, Bilimbi and other plants in our front yard.
Needs to be tidied up soon.

We have lots of fruits to be harvested.

Thanks GOD...

CREAMY CHAYOTE THIS WEEK

This is a little mess in our backyard.
The chayote vine is growing like crazy here.
So lush...

The shoots are growing here and there.

Covering path way...

The vine is expanding into front yard, climbing on the plumeria branch.

Some of them climbing on the roof of the shed.

Lots of little fruit hanging on the vine.

Daily harvest...
Thanks GOD...

CAHYOTE : GROWING LUSH...

It's so lovely...
Yes, finally we can find a very lush 'labu siam' or chayote vine (Sechium edule) in our tiny garden!
This is for the first time we are success on growing creamy version of chayote.
We used to grow the green version.
You can check our effort on growing this version here and here, although we were not lucky with the vine, the squash bugs was so annoying.

Look... the vine is growing high reaching the roof.
I have no idea how the tendril 'hold' the wall with 'over loaded vine'.

We can find some male flowers at the vine.

Hey... there's a female flower too...

The female flower, closer...

Wow... I'm finding a little fruit here, among the butterfly pea vine.

The fruit is still so small...

The heat hot day makes the leaves get withered, but they will fresh again in the afternoon, when the weather becomes cooler.

Thanks GOD...

STARTING THE GREEN WALL

Our grey wall in the backyard is becoming greener.

Pare or bitter gourd, kara kerupuk, chayote and also kara benguk are growing so lush.
They are covering the wall with their green leaves.

A self sown bitter gourd growing near the compost bin, climb on a plastic rope.
Side by side with bitter gourd vine, there're three self sown Kara Benguk (Mucuna pruriens).

Kara benguk is a kind of an wild bean, that grows very invasive.
Actually I won't to grow it in my garden anymore cause its invasive growth, it's mot suitable in my tiny garden.
On the southern side, there are chayote and also Kara kerupuk that climb so lush.

In the next two weeks, our grey wall will turn green and so dense.

CHAYOTE : TOO DENSE... TOO HEAVY... THEN COLLAPSED

This was our green chayote vine on January...
So fresh... so green... so lush...
Our tiny garden looked so messy.
Climbing on the brick wall...
Growing higher and longer...
Emerging the flower and little young fruits.
It grew so fast during this rainy season.

The heavy rainfall almost every day made this vine collapsed.
Then we cut down this vine before we get any harvest yet.
Only harvested some young-tender leaves and shoots, and we cooked as soup and stir fried.
I hope I will be lucky next season.

MY WESTERN BACKYARD ON OCTOBER

This is my western backyard this month...
Seems lots of progresses.
Lets check it up...

This is the washing area...
Some seedling trays still lay here.
We can see the creamy chayote vine become longer and longer...
The red basils grow so healthy, oh... I'm so happy...
The only one rosemary looks so lush, and I've been planning to multiply this herb by cutting.

Some little fruit trees that grown on the pots are covering the top of well.

Some vines are covering the wall.
Bitter gourd, kecipir, and rare beans are growing so thrive.

The tiny corn patch looks so thrive...

This is the northern side...

Self seedling water squashes are so lush...
I have no idea what should I do with these seedlings.
No space anymore for these vines.

I moved the vertical rack to the southern area, and put the A-stake near the L-shape raised bed.

I grow green bean here.

Under the A-stake there are two rows of eggplant pots.

The L-shape raised bed is better now.
Both of red and green amaranth are so thrive.
And the green chayote is growing much better than before.

This one is from the orchid patch...
The Dendrobium Aphyllum is blooming on the wall...

Kecombrang or torch ginger on the corner, near the compost bin is showing me the first flower bud.
Side by side with milkweed, tomato and edible cosmos, all looks so well.

New patch of green bean, have already blooming.

Thanks GOD for this blessing...
Happy gardening friend!
