CORN PATCH THIS SEASON

Sweet corn is one of the favorite in our family.
Steamed corn and make clear soup with corn are two of common dishes made from corn.
It seem the best thing is growing our own sweetcorn.
When we reload the old raised bed, first plan was growing corn on it.
The children planted corn happily.

The first patch is on the eastern back yard.
It's planted on April 5.
Seem like they lack of sun shine.

The second patch is on the south side of western back yard.
It's planted on April 12.
Seem lack of sun shine too.

The third patch is on the middle of the western back yard.
Planted at the same time with the second patch.
Seem has the best performance.

Hoping they all will grow well and give us great harvest.
Thanks GOD

MY WESTERN BACKYARD ON OCTOBER

This is my western backyard this month...
Seems lots of progresses.
Lets check it up...

This is the washing area...
Some seedling trays still lay here.
We can see the creamy chayote vine become longer and longer...
The red basils grow so healthy, oh... I'm so happy...
The only one rosemary looks so lush, and I've been planning to multiply this herb by cutting.

Some little fruit trees that grown on the pots are covering the top of well.

Some vines are covering the wall.
Bitter gourd, kecipir, and rare beans are growing so thrive.

The tiny corn patch looks so thrive...

This is the northern side...

Self seedling water squashes are so lush...
I have no idea what should I do with these seedlings.
No space anymore for these vines.

I moved the vertical rack to the southern area, and put the A-stake near the L-shape raised bed.

I grow green bean here.

Under the A-stake there are two rows of eggplant pots.

The L-shape raised bed is better now.
Both of red and green amaranth are so thrive.
And the green chayote is growing much better than before.

This one is from the orchid patch...
The Dendrobium Aphyllum is blooming on the wall...

Kecombrang or torch ginger on the corner, near the compost bin is showing me the first flower bud.
Side by side with milkweed, tomato and edible cosmos, all looks so well.

New patch of green bean, have already blooming.

Thanks GOD for this blessing...
Happy gardening friend!

BRIGHT SIGN FROM THE CORN PATCH

This is our tiny patch of sweet corn...

My son sowed the sweet corn seeds on the late of July.
They looks grow so lush...
But my son often asked my, why the corns haven't appeared yet...

He really proud with his efforts, although he just planted and sometime do watering.
The plants are so high... up to 3 meter I guess.

He is so happy, when he see some corn flowers on this patch.
Lovely...

He is really impatient...
He can't wait to pick his own homegrown sweet corns...

Please be patient boy...

QUADRUPLET-SWEET CORN

We had rain along the night.
This morning my beds look so messy.
A big green amaranth is fallen, uprooted.
Worse... my sweet corn patch.

Almost of the corn plants were uprooted.
Finally I pulled up all of the plants.
Wow... I found something strange.
I got a quadruplets corncob.
This was the first time I see that.
Usually I find one or two corncobs on a leaf midrib, but I found four...

Actually the corncobs weren't growing optimally.
The seeds weren't fully formed.

Although they didn't give me sweet seeds, but they gave me something new that I haven't know before.
Always there's a worthwhile in any disaster.
How about you....
