LETTUCE : BEST CROP EVER

How lucky I am...
yeah... I found bountiful self seedlings lettuces in chrysanthemum pot.

After I watering the drought pot on the balcony, several days later I found little seedling popping  up from the soil, I'm not sure the ID.

Then I checked the pot, and I found the ruin of flower cluster, yeah... lettuce flower cluster.
I let them grew up, and transplanted some of them into the ground and pots.
now... we can find beautiful and healthy lettuces on our garden.

I remember... on the early of this year I sowed some expired lettuce seeds on the chrysanthemum pots, and get two lettuces grew so poor, grew wildly like as weed.

Let them  bolted then flowering, the stalk were broken by the wind and died caused by the drought.

There was no sign of life there, before I did watering into the soil.

Now we can identifying the variety... 'Butter head Java rose' lettuce.

Beauty from the wasted thing...

Beautiful volunteer...

I get so many various stages of this lettuce...

And plating them everywhere...

Thanks GOD...

GARDENING ON THE BALCONY : FEBRUARY 2017

This February our eastern balcony looks a bit thrives.

There are three lettuces 'Butterhead' in the center of the row.

Mini pakcoy white between the lettuces.

Lots of Siomak or lettuce 'Pointed Leaf'.

They look so crisp and fresh.

This is the second trial.

The first trial was fail.

And now they look awesome.

Petsai or chinesse cabbage 'granat' looks beautiful hoping they will form their head soon.

Still there are two gutters here.
We sowed kangkung here and 'Ta ke cai' a kind of pakcoy.

There are three pots of mint on the vertical rack.
Hoping they will safe and grow healthy here.

RED LETTUCE : BOLTING

These are two of red lettuces remain in our terrace garden
I sowed a pinch of Kayla Red lettuce, but only two seed germinated and grew.
It might the seeds have expired or other reason.

What a shame the lettuces aren't growing compactly as usual.
One of the lettuces are bolting.

I think they only have limited sun shine, so the color is not so bright, greenish and a bit pale.

The taste and texture are similar to common lettuce.
However they are coloring our terrace garden as well.

NEW ROWS ON THE OKRA'S PATCH

A week after I cut the okra's stem, there's no growth progress here.

So to fill the 'empty' space I planted selada/sawi Jepang and hot chillies there.

Two rows of hot chilli plants....

And a row of selada Jepang...

I hope, it will make this part looks better.

WHERE'RE YOU, MY LETTUCES?

I feels, something lost on my raised bed.
I didn't notice this area intensively for about two weeks.
Yeah... my lettuce patch, I feels it was 'disappear'.
Self sown amaranths were growing like crazy and taking over the lettuce patch.
Then I did 'weeding', I pulled out the amaranths that grew like as weed.

Look... this was the patch after weeding...
The lettuces were looked so poor!

I cleaned this space one day later.
Looks much better than before.

I think, it was too late to do weeding, but I hope they will be grow better and better...

RED RAPID LETTUCE

Lettuce is my favorite vegetable for eaten raw.
I grow so many variety of lettuces on my little garden.

Green leaved version is the main variety.
Just a few variety of red version.

The red leaved variety is my favorite.
There are so many red varieties that I have ever grown.

This is the 'Red Rapid'.
Such a lovely vegetable.

Easy growing, and no bugs...

I let some plants get flowering, and set up seeds for the next planting.
We can find a lot of little plants from self seedling around the old plants.

The little yellow flower is so beautiful.
The diameter is about 5-7 mm.

Lovely vegetables and ornamental too...
