LET'S CREEP!

In this rainy season, so many vine grow so fast.
They compete to creep on the walls.
In so many part of my garden, I can see the vines roots were taped to the walls.
Clinging, creeping and climbing...
Who will the next competitors?

NAUGHTY GRASSHOPPER

This is my red rose...
Look so beautiful...

The petals look so smooth...
Actually, that was the condition of my rose several days ago.

There was a grasshopper on it.
I took it from my rose, and I gave it to my chicken.

Another day I found a grasshopper again.
I took it and I gave it to my chicken.

Yesterday, I still found a grasshopper on my red rose.
I don't know why the other grasshoppers come again... again... and again...

Look my poor rose...
The petals and leaves were ripped and holey.

They  never let my rose look so wonderful.
Oh... naughty grasshoppers...

WEEKLY HARVEST - DECEMBER 1

This week, I didn't get a lot of thing from my garden.
I have unloaded beds and pots for new planting in many lots.

From my front yard, my passion fruit was starting its harvesting time.
Everyday we collect some fallen fruits on the ground.
Can you find my hidden passion fruit?

My lemon tree looks so plentiful.
I planted it near my gate.

I pick some lemon fruits.

 These are my Vitamin C sources from my front yard.

I also pick green globular eggplants, cabe rawit ungu, triwis and kembang telang.

From my beds in my back yard I got pare,  cabe rawit, hot pepper, tomatoes, green onion, green chives, kara leaves, papaya leaves, leunca, triwis (cabbage sprouts) and green amaranths.

From my balcony, I still found dewandaru and acid oranges.
And from my terrace garden I got cabbage sprouts, green onion, green chives, red lettuce, celery and red amaranths.
This month maybe I just get a few yield.
I must be patient to wait my new crops show me their best performance, and give me their plentiful yields.
I wish...

PURPLE EPIDENDRUM

This is my  Epidendrum that blossom in this rainy season. 
The purple one...

 

I plant it on so many places in my garden.
On the Nusaindah trunk in my front yard.
Also on so many pots and bricks wall in my back yard.

I let them grow wildly, naturally...
This is a species orchid, it's better for them to grow like in their native place.

High humidity and warm weather stimulate their flowering stage.
Little flowers...
So cute...

So many spikes...
So many shoots...
Rainy season is a flowers party...

VEGETABLE OF THE WEEK - PARE KODOK

This week is the best time for my pare (Momordica charantia).

Pare is well known as bitter gourd or bitter cucumber.
In Indonesia it's also called paria.

Pare is an annual vine.
This plant is a member of Cucurbitae family.

I planted it on my beds.
I plant three varieties of pare.

 

This is a local variety 'Pare Kodok'.

Kodok means frog.

 

This is an exotic and  popular vegetables in Indonesia.
Exotic...
Why?
They have a unique shapes.

They also have beautiful flowers...
The flowers spread soft scent in the morning.
So lovely...

The yellow flowers look so stunning.
Male flowers have brighter color.
And the female flowers have paler yellow color.

Pare have bitter taste, but will change to a delicious and tasty dish after it's cooked.

We usually knead the  fruits that have been chopped with salt to reduce the bitter taste, even lost it bitterness.

This morning I cooked a traditional dish 'oseng pare' or bitter gourd - stir fry.
This dish is very popular in Central Java.

It will be a great side dish for hot white rice.
Yummm... 

MY FIRST PASSION

Yesterday, I got a fallen passion fruit.
The skin look reddish.

This is my first ripe fruit.
Only one...
But I saw so many reddish fruits were hanging on the vine. 

 

This morning we found so many passion fruit ripen.
My son run into the kitchen and took a basket.
He walked here and there collected the fruits.
He look so happy.

 

This is our first harvest.
How many fruits that we got...
One... two... three...
We collected twelve fruits.
 

Look the fruits that we found.
Beautiful skin...

 

We make a passion fruit drink from our first fruit.
It's the simple way to enjoy the delicacy of this fruit.

We make a juice from the pulp.
The juice is a high acidity concentrate.
If the juice are sweetened and diluted, it will be a palatable drink.
So delicious... 
The aroma is so fresh.

My family get a lot of  vitamin C sources this week.
