ZUCCHINI : PROGRESS #1

This is my first time on growing zucchini.
There are so much pleasure to try something new in my home garden.

I bought the seeds from online store.
I was sowing the four seeds on January 20, and the seedlings were transplanted in February 9.

I found the first male flower in February 25.

Lovely flower buds...

From a sachet I got two varieties.
Look the differences...

 

I'm not sure about the result forward.
I find the curly leaves on a pot plant.

I find lots of flower buds, but I haven't find female buds yet.

I hope they will give me their best result.

PARE : RETIRED EARLIER

I love pare...
I planted any on my garden several months ago.

They were so flourish...

They produced lots of fruits...
Hmmm.... so lovely...

In my first plan, I will unload my Pare plot at the last of March.
Maybe you still remember with my 'Shadow project'.
But the yellow bugs attack made me resigned the first plan.

The bugs made the leaves have dry and rotten.
So, I unloaded the pare plot three weeks ago.
And make a new plot on this plot.
Just a backup plan, an incidental plan.

Look brighter...
This is my bed two week ago.

 

I plant kangkung, sweet basil, basil, red amaranth, green mustard, cabe rawit (hot pepper), broccoli, pakcoy, lettuce and okra.

This bed is on part shady area, so I should plant 'special' varieties that adaptable on the limited sun shine.

I have to choose the appropriate plants.

 

The plants look don't do well.

Etiolation...

The durian branches make a shadow on my garden.

That's my next door trees.

I can't do nothing. 

Look the leaves on my beds.

I hope they would be a good compost.

I have to make a good plan for the next planting.

WEEKLY HARVEST : MARCH 1

Here they are... my harvest this week.
This is a windy and rainy week.
It makes my home garden look so messy.
I only have a limited time in gardening, caused by the unfavorable weather.

Look what I have gained this morning...
From my front yard I picked some bilimbis.
I think they are on over ripening stage, so look yellowish.

Belimbing wuluh/bilimbi (Averhoa bilimbi)

The passion fruit vine only give me a little basket of fruit.
I have shared it with my friends or neighbors almost everyday.
I still find residual traces of  volcanic ashes on the fruits.

Markisa/Passion fruit (Passiflora sp)

From my back yard there are Loofa, long yard beans, green globular eggplants, three varieties of amaranths, long hot chilli peppers, chayotes, chayote leaves and kemangi sweet basil.

From my terrace garden I get lettuces, cauliflowers, tomatoes, purple eggplants, green onion and  three varieties amaranths.
The cauliflowers are actually  too young to be harvested, but I found some caterpillars on the curds.
So... I picked the bigger curds to safe them.

Here they are the sweet basil and lettuce for lalab (eaten raw) with 'sambal' (traditional hot chilli sauce).

Those are my amaranths.
I picked from my back yard and terrace garden.

Another day I picked some lettuces from my balcony.
That's great for salad and lalab.
Thanks God for everything.

ROSE TIME : ORANGE - PEACH

This is my 'Orange-Peach' rose.
I planted it on May 2013.
This week, this rose is blooming.
In my warm climate, the rose has shorter bloom period. 
Please enjoy the beauty.

GARDENING ON THE BALCONY : MARCH 2014

No more space for my veggies.
So, I expand the planting area in to my balcony.
Look the view from my workroom in the morning.

Actually my east balcony is an area for my ornamental plants.

I hope my home garden become more productive.
Finally, I moved my ornamental plants to my front porch and also hang some pots.

I took the green mustards pots on this balcony before.
I have harvested all of the plant, and now this balcony is a patch for the 'Red Rapid' lettuces.

 

This balcony is a part shady area, but get an abundant sun shine in the morning. 
Actually it's really favorable for so many foliage.
I think this lettuce could be a beautiful edible foliage.

 

The lettuces row is ready to be harvested.

 

But... the new lettuces row is ready to substitute the old row.
The little lettuces row is ready under the old row.

The new 'row' is green lettuce 'Bellini'.

So....my balcony will more productive...

DENDROBIUM : A BEGINNING...

I think this week is a favorable weather for my orchids.
Look... my Dendrobium is blossom.
I plant it on the wall in my back yard.
 

The Sirih vine (Piper bettle) is covering the orchid clump.

I'm getting two spikes on the clump.

This is Dendrobium 'Fatahillah', but the appearance has changed.
My husband bought it about five years ago.
I have divided the clump, and I have three clumps right now.

I can see the beauty for about two months forward.
I hope there's no wild downpour again, so my orchids will safe.
