HARVESTING COMPOST

 A busy Sunday.
My compost bin look so full.
I guess the compost is already mature.
I get four pails of fine compost.
There are about two pails of crude compost for my beds.
The compost bin is ready to the new composting season.

GREEN FENCE

This is my green fence...
The real green.
 

 

This fence was  designed by my husband.
A house with green fence is his dream, ... and mine.
And now, it's come true.

There are three planter boxes.
The width is only 10 cm.

My husband planted bambu air (Equisetum debile) on the boxes.
They grow so fast, low maintenance.

This plant usually grows wildly near the springs or creek.
They really love humid soil.
Partly shady area is the best place for them.

 

This plant have straight and long stems.
The stem is hollow, such as a pipe.

 

In Central Java, this plant is called greges otot.
It's well known as a medicine plant that use for treat muscular pain and rheumatism.

Look... I get some bonus!
There are some impatiens and bunga lilin (Celosia argentea) that grow it self on my west planter box.

The orange flowers of impatient are coloring the green fence.
And the red leaves of bunga lilin make this planter more colorful.

TERRACE GARDEN UPDATE - NOVEMBER

This is the newest condition of my terrace garden.
So many plants need to be repotted.
Replace with the new media is a must.
Prepare new containers and media for the continuous planting.

WAKE UP MY SLEEPING BEAUTY

This is my other sleeping beauty
It awake when the rainy season come.
They grow so fast during the wet weather.

Caladium love shady or partly shady area.
I plant it under the bilimbi tree on my front yard.
Sun shine make the leaves have brighter color.

During the dry season, this plant get dormancy.
We couldn't see anything.
The plant is disappear.

This plant also show me its flower.
Beauty in the simplicity.

WEEKLY HARVEST - NOV 3

This week I got so many vegetables and fruits from my garden.
Maybe that was not too much.
Rain and wind made my vegetables damaged.

Late blight everywhere...
Snails and white flies were damaging crops.
Those are that left in my garden this week.

From my front yard, I got green and purple eggplants, cabbages, cosmos leaves, kembang telang, and the  last of  bilimbi.
The high downpour made the bilimbi clusters were fall.

From my raised garden in my back yard, I got ranti, cabe merah (red hot peppers), cabe rawit, leunca, red amaranths, green amaranths, kara bean, cassava leaves, papaya leaves, lumbu bestak (Colocasia leaves), pare (bitter gourd), green beans, cabbages, tomatoes and  green chives.

From my terrace garden, I got tomatoes, hot peppers, chives, carrots, red amaranth, red lettuce, green lettuce, purple eggplants, green onions, caisin, green mustard and ranti.

 From my balcony, I got dewandaru fruits and acid oranges.

That's not good enough enough, but... Thanks  God...
I still get a lot of thing from my garden.
I wish I will have better weather next week.

Sitting on the garden bench...
Enjoy the day...
Enjoy the beauty of flowers and so many fragrance.

All that I see are beautiful.
I have no idea about the other.

When I noticed my nusaindah or Bangkok Rose, I found something that was bothering my sight.
There were some damaged leaves on it.
What's happen with my lovely plant?

Who was the suspect?

I was checking the whole plant to know the who was damaging my nusaindah.
Finally I found the suspect.
A little  brown caterpillar looked so enjoy a leaf.

This caterpillar is about 5 cm long and the diameter is about 1.5 cm

This caterpillar moved here... there... so fast.

 

I took the leaf, and then buried in the ground.
I wish there are no caterpillar attack again.
And I can enjoy the beauty more and more.
