TERRACE GARDEN UPDATE : FEBRUARY 2017

This month, our terrace garden has no interesting progress.
Lots of rain and I mostly went home lately, made I only have limited time to do garden chores.
These are the pictures of the terrace garden this February.

The north side is for Brassica and long pepper.
Lowest row is for long hot pepper.
Then a row of cauliflower above the lowest row.
Two rows of red cabbages look better than before.
The highest row is for broccoli, and the little curd.s have already formed.

The east side is for broccoli and tomato.

And the center row is for tomatoes, paprika, zucchinis and cabbage.

The south side is for striped amaranth, red cabbage, strawberry and lettuce 'Pointed  Leaf'.

I let the morning glory grows among the cabbages.

The last is west side.
We put mini pakcoy 'Nai Bai' and red pakcoy on the highest row.

The lower row is for Kailan 'Winsa', garlic chives and green pakcoy.
Under the second row, we put a row pakcoy white.

This pakcoy was moved from the balcony two weeks ago, and they look much better here.
The lowest row is for cauliflower.

Bitter gourd or pare is growing so lush here, climbing on the wire on the west side.
Hoping they will grow better and productive.

PELARGONIUM : THE WHITE ONE IS BLOOMING

Longing for pelargonium blooming in our garden.

Actually, I took so many plants from there.
These were the little plants in December.

From two cuttings, only one that survive.

And now it's growing so lush and flowering.

Such a beautiful flower.

Two bunches of white pelargonium are blooming.

Thanks GOD...

GARDENING ON THE BALCONY : FEBRUARY 2017

This February our eastern balcony looks a bit thrives.

There are three lettuces 'Butterhead' in the center of the row.

Mini pakcoy white between the lettuces.

Lots of Siomak or lettuce 'Pointed Leaf'.

They look so crisp and fresh.

This is the second trial.

The first trial was fail.

And now they look awesome.

Petsai or chinesse cabbage 'granat' looks beautiful hoping they will form their head soon.

Still there are two gutters here.
We sowed kangkung here and 'Ta ke cai' a kind of pakcoy.

There are three pots of mint on the vertical rack.
Hoping they will safe and grow healthy here.

ENJOYING CRISPY BUTTERFLY PEA FLOWERS

This week we found lots of kembang telang or butterfly pea flowers in our backyard.
The vine is covering  the grey wall, and it's turned green by the foliage.
Such a shame to let the fresh blue flowers withered, then wasted.

So, I think it's a good idea to make a kind of snack from this stuff.

Crispy flowers...
My children really love this snack.
Tasty and healthy.
A simple snack.
We can check my post about kembang telang here.
Such a shame, I forgot to take any pictures of this snack, cause the snack all eaten as soon as they finished fried.
Hmmm... may be next time.

ENJOYING CALLA LILY...

Several days ago I visited Dieng Plateau in order to monitor environment progress after a natural explosion in a geothermal well there.
During monitoring process, my eyes couldn't stop watching beautiful calla lilies that blooming there.
This plant is grown in almost home garden and also office yard there.

The weather is so cool here.
We can find some of Calla lilies grow wildly in the damp area.
So lush, so fertile...
In that area, there are some marshy land that really suitable for its growth.
Both of the foliage and flower look huge, much bigger than common home garden Calla lily.
The height of the clump was up to 1.5 meter, even more.
Fascinating...
Such a shame I couldn't take any pictures of them, cause the weather was so foggy and windy.

I have ever grown Calla lily in our garden several years ago, but not success.
Actually, I wanted to take home some of plants to be grown in our garden, but the plans wasn't realized.
I hope someday I can grow it.
Now... just enjoy the borrowed Calla lily.

KAPRI : POOR PEA, BEAUTIFUL FLOWER...

This season we are growing kapri or green pea, as third trial.

Actually it's not easy to grow this plant in our hot weather.

Our first and second trial didn't give good result.
This trial seem almost similar to the trials before.

The pea looks so slim and so rare.

It may the space is a part shady area or another reason.

Just enjoying the little flower.

Reader, please sharing me about your experience.
So, It may make my pea patch becomes better.

ZUCCHINI : TIME TO MOVE...

This season we are growing two varieties of Zucchini in our terrace garden.
Actually we showed three varieties, but only two varieties germinated.
And now they have grew more than as a seedling.

The seedlings are still staying on the broccoli pots.

Some flowers have bloomed.
It may it's too late to transplant into bigger pots.
But I hope they will grow better on the new containers.
I wish...

Growing so lush...

The little fruit have formed in January.

And now it have already turn reddish.

Get ripen...
I think it's tomato 'Mawar'.
Mawar means rose.

It might to much shade here, needs more sunshine.
Whatever, It's so lovely.
Thank's GOD

KAILAN : THE SURVIVOR

Actually, Brassica is one of my favorite vegetable to be grown in our tiny garden.
So many varieties of Brassica have grown, although not of all of them grow well.
Kailan Winsa is one of the Brassica that we grow this season.
I showed a pinch of the seed on August.
But only three grow into a seedling.

Now, from three of the seedlings, one plant looks so poor, the leaves are yellowish green.

The other one is bolting with the white flowers on it.

And the last one is still in its vegetative stage.

The leaves are so fresh and looks so juicy.

I think, I should learn about growing Brassica in tropics more and more...
