WAITING FOR MY QUEEN

Several nights ago I'm waiting for  my 'Queen of the Night'  (Ephypilum sp) blossom.
I have three pots of little variety 'Queen of the Nights'.
In Indonesia it's also called Wijaya Kusuma.

Time by time...
It's really a great experience to meet this flowers blossom.
They only blossom in the night.
I have two varieties of Ephypilum,  there are big and little variety.
These are my little variety.
This variety blossom longer, and more often blooming.
The little variety usually blossom from 09.00 PM till 04.00 AM.

The big one only blossom on the peak of the midnight.
And they only blossom during one hour.
The big variety is rare flowering, only twice or three time a year.
Also only a little amount of flowers on a plant.
So ... someone who can see this big queen of the night will get a lucky.
Really lucky person...
Only a patient person will get this luck.

I invite you  'await' the arrival of my Queen.

  2. It must depend on moths for pollination. I don't know of any plants like that here but then I am probably asleep when they bloom if we have any. You have a special plant for sure!

    1. The little variety is more wise, cause this variety blooms earlier and longer. So we can enjoy the bloom longer. Before we asleep, we already enjoy the bloom.

  3. Plants that depend on moth pollination often have a strong scent at night. Often scents in the garden are stronger at dusk, Evening primrose is one in our country that flowers at dusk. Lots of night time flowers are white too so they show up more in the gloom,

    Your queen is beautiful.

  5. What a surprise. I have a Queen of Night too but a different specie. I see the stamens on your flowers are white too, mostly these are yellow. Does it also have such an overwhelming sweet fragrance at night? Love the flowers.
