EDIBLE WEED : PART 2

SAWI TANAH

This is one of the members of the 'Kluban Sawah'.  
In our area, this plant is called  'kemandelan' or sawi lemah.
It tastes almost similar to a green cabbage.



Sawi tanah or Ground mustard (Nasturtium montanum) is the trunked upright herbaceous annuals that reach 55 cm




These species are related to watercress, which comes from the same genus. 



This plant is often used to treat inflammation of the respiratory tract, cough, tuberculosis, Heat, measles, rheumatism, sore throat, hepatitis, bruises, wounds, snakebite, difficult urination.
This is a useful weed...

    1. Yeah, I really love this one. I have never though to 'grow' this weed on my garden before. I just like its taste. But after I know its medicinal benefit, I will never waste it.

  4. They look kind of like a couple of weeds that we have but I think they are different as the first one must taste better and have better texture. We have a small mustard that tastes like pepper.

    1. Yes, if this plant grows on the dry soil, the taste is a bit peppery, and more aromatic

  5. You can see from the flowers that it is related to a cabbage. IT seems so many 'weeds' are.

  6. Endah, cukup menarik ya info tentang edible weed ini tapi bahagian kedua ini saya tidak pernah lihat pula adanya di tempat saya. Memang rupanya seakan sawi.

    1. Tanaman ini menyukai daerah yang agak dingin dan lembab. Di tanah yang gembur dan cukup air, pertumbuhannya sangat bagus, daunnya besar dan teksturnya lebih crispy.
