GARDENING ON THE BALCONY : JUNE 2014

Lets peek my eastern balcony...

This month, I still have some kailan.
And the celery become so thrive.
I picked the older leaves for daily needs.

Look my Andewi (endive)....
This is for my first time growing endive.

These are pakcoy 'Wazuka' that grow so slowly this season.
Some of them were rotten.

The curly mustards grow so well here.

I still have a pot of red lettuce for seeds, and green mustard.
Thrips be a serious problem in this patch.
Hope everything will be OK.

  2. Your endive is related to our chicory which grows wild and then had tall seed stalks with blue flowers. I haven't eaten it but they also use the roots to roast into a coffee additive.

    1. Sounds so interesting. Blue flowering plants are so rare. I haven't ever grown chicory yet. I make a plant list for next growing season, and the chicory is one on my list.

    1. I sowed ten seeds of endive, all were sprouted, but only four remains as little plants. I have a pot of endive that grows so thrive, I gave the same handling but the result were not the same.

    1. My celery on the terrace garden look so poor. the rain make them broken and rotten. All potted celery on my balcony are safe and grow so well. They are free from the rain.
