This week we will talk about an exotic tropical fruit as a monthly series.
Manggis (Garcinia mangostana) or purple mangosteen is a tropical fruit
It's a member of family Guttiferae.
So... I think this is the right time to explore this fruit.
This fruit is very popular in South East Asia.
Thailand is the highest producer of this fruit, followed by Malaysia, Philippines than Indonesia.
Both of the shape and taste are so exotic.
The fruit has a long in storage period, so... it's good for far away shipping.
Readers, have you ever taste this fruit?
Dear Endah, I have never seen this fruit so far, let alone had a chance to taste it! It looks pretty cool, though. Thanks for featuring it on your blog.
ReplyDeleteWarm regards,
Christina
Thank you, Christina. I hope you can find this fruit and taste it.
DeleteEndah, kawan saya pernah buat jem manggis...sedap katanya.
ReplyDeleteWow, jem manggis... tentu sedap Kak Mala
DeleteOh how I love mangosteen! If only they traveled better and where available here. Though I guess not getting more often makes them taste all the more delicious whenever we do go back to Southeast Asia.
ReplyDeleteI think so. You have visited lots of places an taste a lot of special things from each place. How wonderful
DeleteI have never seen it here or maybe I didn't pay attention because I didn't know what it was. Now, I'll keep my eyes open!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure You will, Magali.
