FEEL BLUE - PART 3

In Indonesia, more people recognize kembang telang as medicinal plant.
Indonesian culture is influenced by Hindu tradition.
So the Indonesian traditional medicine also influenced by Ayurvedic medicine.
In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, it has been used for centuries as a memory enhancer, antistress, antidepressant, anticonvulsant, tranquilizing and sedative agent.

The flower have blue pigment called anthocyanin that well known as a high quality antioxidant.
We usually use the water immersion of kembang telang flowers to treat eye inflammation and wash wounds.
It was used traditionally in an attempt to treat  infertility, to control menstrual discharge, and also as an aphrodisiac.


The juices of the leaves is usually treating ears inflammation.
The herb also cures cold and asthma.
A decoction can be prepared and used to cure core throats.
The herb has the property to regulate the circulatory system.
It purifies the blood and gives a new energy to the body.


The roots of kembang telang have great medicinal value. 
They can be powdered and consumed. 
They cure whooping cough in an instant manner. 
The roots have the ability to improve memory.

The extract from the roots serve as an antidote in treating poisonous bites.
Kembang telang has a very positive effect on the human nerve system. 
It strengthens the nerves present in the body and increases the functioning of the brain.
So... be smart with the blue tea.
My son love to eat the fresh flowers.
His tongue will changed bluish.






The herb is effective in curing fever. 
It acts as a body coolant, also cures the swelling and pain . 

 

A paste of the whole plant can be applied over the infected area.
The herb is very effective in curing constipation. 
It also serves as a mild laxative and cures the ulcers.

For an instant uses, I put several fresh flowers on the cup.
Than pour the boiling water into it, wait for about 5 minutes.
The clear water will turn into blue color.
Look the color of the water... 
So interesting...

  2. I have never seen a flower that will color a tongue and water like that, I will look for them for sale here as it may grow during the summer long enough to produce flowers.

    1. I think kembang telang can grow well during the summer in the sub tropics area. You can grow it as an annual

  4. very intersting like all your posts. This flower is called Shankha pushpi in India, and it is used extensively in Ayurveda for increasing memory.

  6. It sounds like a miracle plant. I wonder if this is where the word cyan to describe a shade of blue comes from.

    It also seems that the idea that the plant will cure the part of the body that it resembles is trues too.
