WEEKLY HARVEST - NOVEMBER 4

Rainy season...
Wet weather along this week.
It's not a good season for my fruity vegetables.
Fruit flies (Drosophilla melanogaster) destroy my crops.
I found a lot of rotten fruits.
Pare, chilli and  tomatoes... almost rotten, attacked by fruit flies.

My chilli collections

But rainy season is the best time for the greens.
All fresh... all green...
They grow so... fast.

From my front yard, I still found cabbage, green eggplant and kembang telang.

From my raised bed on my back yard I got tomatoes, green beans, green amaranths, kara leaves, papaya leaves, sweet potato leaves, colocasia, leunca, pare, green cabbages,  green chives, som Jawa, 7 varieties of long hot chilli and 5 varieties of little hot chilli.

Pare ( bitter gourd)

som jawa (Talinum paniculatum)

Kara leaves

From my terrace garden I got red amaranth, green chives, green onions, tomatoes, purple eggplants, cabbage and sweet basil.

From my balcony, I got dewandaru and acid oranges.

I didn't get a lot of thing this week, cause there were so many lots  that unloaded.
Digging my beds.
Replace media for container gardening in my terrace garden
I prepare for the next planting on some lots.
Also started new planting on other lots.
A busy week.

  1. Insects will rule the world one day, they seem to attack nearly every plant. I even had something eating hot peppers one year and never found what it was. You get beautiful vegetables but it is a lot of work.

    1. Yes, they are very aggressive in damaging my crops. Hot pepper is a popular vegetable in Indonesia, most of Indonesian dishes use this pepper. I need a lot of work to keep my crops save.

    1. Thank you. I plant organically, so their performance aren't good enough. But their taste are really good.
      Have a nice day

  4. Your veggies came in nicely. What is the last red fruit? How does it taste? Sweet or sour?

    1. That's dewandaru or surinam cherry. The pulp of red ripe fruit is smooth, sweet and aromatic. Unripe fruits taste sweet-sour. So tasty.

    1. You have to know that the caterpillar left me only three healthy cabbages on my terrace garden. Naughty caterpillar!

  7. What types of chillis are the ones in the top left of your collection photo, and the lilac/white ones? I've not seen any like these before!

    Dewandaru looks very tasty!

    1. The lilac-white is cabe rawit ungu or tricolor hot chilli pepper. This chilli is very hot. You can check my old post about tricolor chilli pepper.
Welcome to my blog. Thank you for coming.

    2. Thank you! I am very glad I found my way to your blog. I am fascinated by how different things grow for you in Indonesia and I read back to your "feeling blue" series which was really interesting!
